4/19/25 Saturday Evening Update on Pastor Joe Gonzalez

Pastor Joe is home and doing well!

He still needs time to heal and fully recover, but he is on that path, and we are grateful to the Lord for all His blessings! Check out the link on our YouTube channel to see his personal message of thanks to all of you:

There is a fundraiser to assist with additional costs of living, transportation, and medical expenses not covered by his insurance. So far, we've gathered over half of our goal! We truly appreciate any gift you share to bless them during this medical crisis! The fundraiser can be found here: www.GiveSendGo.com/PrJoeGonzalez

Sunday Morning Update on Pastor Joe Gonzalez

I'm happy to report that Pastor Joe is now out of the ICU! We hope that he may be released on Monday. Barbara and Wade O'Connor were able to visit with him, and they shared that he had a quadruple bypass, not a triple as we were expecting, so it's no wonder that he was so sleepy and tired! He's doing the various therapies and is doing well with that part of recovery.

Earlier in the week, we'd had a report from Sheila that he initially had some delirium, which occurs from being under anesthesia for long periods. Gratefully, he seems to be past all of it, praise G-d! His assistant, Marcella was able to speak with him via phone Saturday evening and was delighted to hear Joe sounding like himself, even if a bit tired, lol. Thank you so very much for your generosity and continued prayers for Joe and Sheila!

Surgery/Update on Pastor Joe Gonzalez

Our Founding Pastor, Joe Gonzalez, had triple bypass/open heart surgery (on Monday, April 7, 2025) and he is already making good progress in his recovery, baruch haShem!

During the surgery, his nurse said that he was doing well and it might not take the full seven hours in surgery. By 4:00 pm that afternoon, we got news that the doctors were finished and Joe was sleeping in the recovery room. The next morning, Sheila said that he did well through the night. They have started doing therapy and he is making good progress there as well.

Thank you so very much for your generosity and continued prayers for Joe and Sheila!

Prayer request for Pastor Joe Gonzalez

Our Founding Pastor, Joe Gonzalez, had to have a triple bypass/ open heart surgery yesterday (Monday, April 7, 2025) and he is already making good progress in his recovery, baruch haShem!

Our first priority is to ask that you add Pastor Joe to your prayers, so he may heal swiftly, without complications, and that he and his wife, Sheila, and their family, will stay in His perfect peace throughout his surgery and recovery.

Pesach/Passover 2025

Olive Tree Community will not be having a large catered Seder this year (but as we grow, we hope next year we might!) Instead, we have planned to have a small potluck seder with our local congregation. We encourage everyone to gather their friends and family in their homes to share the telling of the Lord delivering Israel from slavery in Egypt.

Because our seating is so limited, we are starting by getting a head count from our local congregation, and it will be first come, first served. We wish that we could invite everyone in the community but as was stated above, we just don't have the space. Those who are a part of the local community will receive an email regarding the details, Please RSVP to that email. Thank you!

Shalom from all of us at Olive Tree Community Spokane!

As we pray for the return of the Oct 7th hostages... Let Us Never Forget: The Night Of Broken Glass

On November 9–10, 1938, Nazi leaders unleashed a series of pogroms against the Jewish population in Germany and recently incorporated territories. This event came to be called Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass) because of the shattered glass that littered the streets after the vandalism and destruction of Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues, and homes.

Did you know...?

Nazi officials disguised the organized nature of the pogroms. They described the actions as justifiable and spontaneous responses of the German population to the assassination of a German diplomatic official, Ernst vom Rath, in Paris. This unprecedented violence against the Reich’s Jews generated international outrage.

Did you know...?

During the pogrom, some 30,000 Jewish males were rounded up and taken to concentration camps. This was the first time Nazi officials made massive arrests of Jews specifically because they were Jews, without any further cause for arrest.

Did you know...?

In the aftermath of Kristallnacht, the Nazi regime ordered the Jewish community to pay a 1 billion Reichsmark “atonement tax” and rapidly enacted many anti-Jewish laws and edicts.

These details were gathered from the Holocaust Encyclopedia and you can read more about Kristallnacht at this link:
